While there are still lots of people consider injection treatments like Botox, hyaluronic acid, etc. to be the best way of rejuvenating their face and essential element of cosmetic procedures. But the trend of beauty treatments are changing in nowadays. In past 2 years, more and more dermatologists and cosmetologists are recommending gentler, non-invasive treatments for skin care. Compared with traditional cosmetic injection, these non-invasive treatments avoid various risks such as infection, body rejection, and post-maintenance etc.
No matter how good your skin condition is now, as you age grow, the collagen under your skin will eventually be depleted. fine lines and wrinkles will become more visible, and your skin will lose its luster and become less smooth. So how to help mature women regain soft and smooth skin has always been a hot topic in the beauty industry. Cosmetic injection is one of the most effective methods regardless of risks and maintenance costs. For those who don't want to use injections to smooth fine lines, beside having enough moisture on to the skin, What actually you can do? This also was a hot topic at this year's UK Aesthetics Conference. I have also discussed this topic privately with few of my beauty related friends, Dr Mahto, Dr Thomas, and Dr Zamani. Base on our interesting coversation, I would like to share with you some options of "how to make the skin become smoother and softer without injections".
1. Wear suncream every day
"...prevention is always better than cure..." says Dr. Mahto. Incorporating broad-spectrum suncream also known as SPF and PA-blocking suncream, into your morning routine will help fighting fine lines and winkles in the first place. "...according to research, approximately 80% of skin aging issues were the caused by UV damage, so SPF suncream should really be your first choice..." she says.
2. Exfoliate regularly
In order to improving skin brightness and smoothing uneven/rough skin surface, you must having the habit of exfoliating regularly to get rid of your old dead skin cells. Don’t neglect exfoliating just beacuse your skin type is dry skin. If you're really against exfoliating, please looking for products that contain exfoliating acids in your skincare selection. By this way, even if you use it every day, the mild product won't irritate your skin."If your skin can tolerate it, products contain alpha hydroxy acids are a good choice, but if you want a milder choice, consider polyhydroxy acids," says Dr. Mahto. "These can be found on the product's ingredient list. Because their larger molecular size also means they don’t penetrate as deeply as AHAs, but still have excellent exfoliating properties.”
3. Using skincare products with retinol ingredient
Consistent use of retinoid products has been shown to help reducing fine lines very effectively."Retinol works by increasing the metabolic rate of skin cell, allowing younger and fresher cells to reach the upper layers of the skin and allowing older and dead cells to slough off on their own. Skin condition can have visible improvement within 3 - 6 months," said Dr. Mahto. "the results will keep improving with continued use over time.” However, some people may feel a slight tingling in the skin when they first time using retinol product. To help the skin slowly use to the retinol, it is best to use it at night, also apply a layer of night cream after use retinol products.
4.Raido frequency facial
Radiofrequency (RF) treatment is the emerging technology for non-surgical tightening of the early signs of loose or sagging skin in recent years. It's ideal for those people who either don’t want, or don’t believe they are old enough to have a surgical procedure. Now RF technology has been widely used in the field of beauty. Many well-known beauty treatments (such as the Accent™, Pelleve™, Thermage™ and Tripollar™ devices) all uses Pure RF to treat skin laxity by facial tightening, and is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid 30s to 50s, with any skin colour. It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line, and neck. Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a visible improvement in their skin tightness, with minimal risks and downtime compared to surgery.
Both Dr Thomas and me are passionate about using RF for anti-aging treatments. In Beauty Bee I am using HIFU, RF, and Phototherapy for skin lifting, skin tightening, fine line and winkle removing treatment. And Dr Debbie Thomas combines RF and DPL (Deep Penetrating Light) for rejuvenation treatment in her London clinic. Dr Thomas think the combination of 2 techniques creates micro-channels in the skin, which alone can trigger the skin's regenerative healing response, which enhances skin firmness and abundance. The whole process is more comfortable with similar efficiency.
5. Fractional laser
Nowadays, Fractional laser is a very popular laser treatment for resurfaceing and rejuvenating skin especially treat fine lines, wrinkles, scars, hyperpigmentation, uneven tone, and textural issues. While a fully ablative laser removes the entire surface layer of skin in the treated area, fractional laser beams are broken up into smaller units, so they target between 25% and 40% of the skin’s surface, leaving the rest intact. The surrounding intact skin helps jump-start healing, stimulating the production of new collagen and the turnover of new cells. Because a majority of the skin is left undamaged, fractional lasers offer a quicker recovery, so patients can get back to work and other normal activities faster.
Aesthetic physician Dr. Maryam Zamani is passionate about fractional laser to help resurface skin and soften fine lines."This is a hybrid fractional laser that is used to trigger the body's natural healing response to precisely target skin damage and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sunburn and enlarged pores," says Maryam, "it stimulates collagen production at the same time, finally achieve a long lasting effect." Dr Thomas also passionate about using fractional laser to help improving facial contours and overall skin health. For shallow wrinkles, she combines non-ablative lasers with gentle chemical peels to get smoother skin quickly, while for deeper wrinkles, exfoliating lasers work best and they can be very effective, but the more severe the skin problem, the more aggressive the treatment, which means longer recovery time and discomfort.
