HIFU V.S. Thermage FLX, which one is better choice for anti-aging

Since last month I created a post talking about HIFU, there were few of customers asked me the difference between HIFU and Thermage FLX. Well...both of these treatments are the most popular beauty treatments for non-invasive face lifting and skin tightening at current stage. Both HIFU and Thermage FLX designed to achieve anti-aging results which is face lifting and skin tightening. In principle, both treatments are designed to applying onto target tissue, thereby destroying cells and shrinking tissues. In addition, tissue thermal damage initiates a wound healing response that stimulates fibroblast activity, releasing cytokines and growth factors, which promote collagen and elastin formation. However, as the techniques used in these two treatments are different, so that results will be different. Now let me explain:

Technology been used: HIFU, can be tell by the name that is using Ultrasonic technology. You can imagine the Ultrasound scans in pregnancy, midwide sliding the handle on mother's stomach... Yes... HIFU uses the same technology, but the Ultrasonic waves emitted will be much more focused and powerful. HIFU always been considered gold standard for non-surgical face lifting and skin tightening. Thermage FLX is using radio frequency technology. RF is also widely used in our life, such as RFID anti-theft lavels in supermarkets, induction doors in hotels or offices, even mobile payment. In Beauty Bee the similar technology was been used on RF facial treatment.

Suitable people: HIFU targeting on the dermis and the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layer which is upto 4.5mm subcutaneous. SMAS layer is often known as the surgical layer that works for skinlift surgery. So HIFU worked very efficiency on people age above 28 with loose skin, sagging face, or facial contours are not clear. Thermage FLX is a unipolar radio frequency. It can only act to depth of 2.6mm subcutaneous which is the location of the dermis. This means Thermage has milder effect than HIFU. Its skin tightening effect will be more pronounced, but the effect of facial lifting will not be as good as HIFU. Thermage suitable for people age above 20 with light and fine wrinkles, and loose skin issue.

Effect: As I mentioned above, HIFU treatment use ultrasound heats SMAS layer to 65℃ to 70℃, which is by far the highest temperature a non-invasive tightening device. Optimal temperature is employed to ensure optimal collagen regrowth. HIFU have significant effect on face lifting and skin tightening. Thermage FLX can reach subcutaneous temperature upto 60℃. The treatment is milder which means it suitable for most of people, but the effect is not as obvious as HIFU. It working effect with winkle and loose skin issue, but have limited effect on face lifting.

Result: Result of HIFU can be slowly visualized within 4-8 weeks, and the result can last for about 12-14 months. Result of Thermage FLX can be visualized in about 4-6 weeks, and the best results can be vary from 6 months to 18 months base on different people's diaet habits.

As my conclusion, HIFU is the top non-invasive anti-aging beauty treatment at current stage. If you are over 28 years old, and been plagued by issues such as sagging face, loose skin, deepening wrinkles, etc., do not hesistate to choose HIFU treatment. Thermage has more wider 'audiences', but in some points the result may not as effective as HIFU. But If you major issue is fine wrinkles and lines, then thermage is also a good choice. As alternative option, you may choose RF Prime facial instead of Thermage, although it takes multiple courses, but you pay much less money and achieve the same final result.
